About

I’m Ved Prakash, a Java and J2EE architect with 18+ years of experience building enterprise-grade, cloud-native applications — with deep specialisation in health interoperability standards including HL7 FHIR (R4/R5), openEHR, IHE integration profiles, and clinical terminology systems (SNOMED CT, LOINC, ICD-10/11).

I currently serve as CTO of dChikitsa Private Limited and Co-Founder & CTO of Akhester Technologies, leading architecture and delivery of open, standards-compliant digital health platforms for national and international healthcare markets — including my current role as Solutions Architect on a UNOPS-contracted national digital health platform in Sri Lanka (HAPI FHIR, IHE XDS.b/ATNA/BALP, NEHR/NHDX alignment).

My engineering stack runs deep: Spring Boot microservices, Spring Cloud, event-driven architectures (Kafka/Redis), containerised deployments (Docker/Kubernetes), and cloud infrastructure (AWS) — paired with hands-on delivery of complex EMR, EHR, HIS, and health claims exchange platforms for some of India’s most significant national digital health initiatives, including HCX (Health Claims Exchange), the HIP/HIU health information exchange platform, and a full-scale national Hospital Information System built from the ground up for a Mongolian healthcare institution.

I’m also Co-Founder of the Dr. Akriti Jamwal Foundation, a Section 8 not-for-profit stewarding AJ Commons — open-source FHIR health infrastructure that any government or hospital can deploy freely.

Certifications: HL7 FHIR® Foundational Implementer (HL7 International) · SNOMED CT Foundation Certificate (SNOMED International)

What I write about here Link to heading

This blog is where I unpack what it actually looks like to design and build interoperable health information systems — the standards debates, the political and institutional realities, the technical trade-offs, the engineering decisions, and the lessons that don’t make it into official project documentation.

I write for fellow architects, engineers, implementers, and anyone curious about what it takes to make health data move across systems, institutions, and borders — from the FHIR resource profile up to the Kubernetes cluster it runs on.
